They say you can take the girl out of Warrington but you can't take Warrington out of the girl. Well, Angela Powers has never really left her home town. Educated at Warrington High School for Girls, she joined the Warrington Guardian at 18, becoming chief reporter at the Knutsford Guardian and deputy editor at the Northwich Guardian during her time with the newspaper group.

After a spell as a reporter and sub with the Oldham Evening Chronicle, she joined the BBC in Manchester, as regional journalist on North West Tonight, producer/director of the documentary strand Close Up North and latterly sports producer on North West Tonight.

It was after a chance remark to the executive producer of Sky Sports Super League programmes that she crossed to the satellite broadcaster in 1998. 'You could do with someone like me on your team,' she suggested. Eleven seasons later she's still there, reporting on all things rugby league for Sky.

Angela lives in Old Hall with college lecturer partner Dean and her two children Michael, 14, and Lucas 5. Her one ambition that has yet to be realised - to meet all four members of Abba."
