The Weekenders with Jo and Scott

Saturdays and Sundays 6pm - 8pm

What do you get if you throw together a Mum, teacher and a journalist? You get the random mix which is The Weekenders. Jo Lo, heads up the team, and with Scott and Claire, they look back at the week, at what’s been happening in the news, and in their own lives. Think, “Have I Got News for You”, think, “Mock The Week”... well they’re not that funny, but they’ll have a go!

Scott Burns
Scott is born and bred in Wigan, but don’t hold that against the LSA/TA (ask him what it means?). He works in a secondary school in the day, but this isn’t his first time in radio. He was a studio assistant at City Talk 105.9 in Liverpool on Jo and Nicksy’s Late Night talk show where he joined in the banter and answered the phones. Scott is the ideas man of the weekenders and specialises in finding odd stories from around the world along with his own observations and adding his own brand of comedy.

He’s also been a football coach for Wigan Athletic and a nursery nurse, yes a nursery nurse!. He also has a knack of just finding himself on TV shows like... The Commander, 10 years younger (not having a makeover!) and Dick and Dom in da bungalow! He just crops up on film! But Scott has decided he definitely has a face for radio so is happy to join the gang at Newlove FM. * Voted 2nd best presenter in his house 2009!

Joanne Lowe
Jo has 13 years experience in radio. She’s gone from news reader, to news editor, to co-host, producer, even website manager at one point, and is now here at Newlove FM where she’s also co-hosting a week day show with Nicksy and is one of the Programme Directors. So far she’s worked at Wish FM, Wire FM, had a brief stint in telly, at Key103, and most recently Liverpool’s City Talk 105.9. Now her main job is being a Mum.

Born in Australia Jo moved to England when she was 8 and has been looking for the sunshine ever since. It was tough for the young girl with a funny voice, and it still is, she still has a funny voice. Besides her radio career, Jo has had lots of other jobs which gives her plenty to talk about, like working on a market stall, in a pink wafer biscuit factory, and even giving out winnings at the races before she got a proper job. In fact, Jo talks a lot.

Claire Hannah
The final member of the team, but by no means the least is Claire Hannah. Claire is currently the News Editor at 97.4 Rock FM, but before then has worked at Radio City on the breakfast show, Bolton’s Tower FM, and also worked in TV. Claire has a passion for news, very high heeled shoes and Vimto! She loves the purple stuff and lost two fillings to Vimto bon - bons last year. Claire will be the one with the witty comments on the news events as she has her finger well on the pulse, and there will be a few interesting tales about her life you can bet.
