Over the last 18 months I have been going through and I am still going through an emotional rollercoaster ride, which sadly will carry on for the rest of my daughters lives and mine.
However, the outcome of all these highs and lows makes us stronger, so much so in the case of myself - fighting for the victim and the victim’s families rights to ensure that they have the respect and their voices are heard just as they deserve through national agencies and throughout the Criminal Justice System. That the scales balance more fairly for their voices in our law courts.
No one can prepare you for this tragedy and no one will truly understand unless they are in our situation. Many families do not have the strength to be heard and that is why I will aid and assist them, which will enable these families to be stronger and cope with their emotions in their own time, and at their own pace, level and understanding.
Families should not be pushed to the bottom of the rung, we should be right up there being listened to as our loved ones can no longer get up and do that for themselves. Victims rights must never be forgotten ‘ they are our loved ones AND NOT A GOVERNMENT STATISTIC’. Therefore, by tackling these issues and fighting for change will at least begin to prevent further families suffering such pain and their life sentences.
